The Golden Age – Goodbye My Lover

8eight’s break-up masterpiece following ‘Without a Heart’
The beginning of Bang Si-hyuk-style hybrid music, Goodbye My Lover

After the smash hit of ‘Without a Heart,’ 8eight releases another break-up masterpiece ‘Goodbye My Lover’ as a digital single, accompanied by the launch of their summer promotion. The song which was written before ‘Like being hit by a bullet’ and ‘Without a Heart,’ marks the beginning of Bang Si-hyuk style hybrid music. ‘Goodbye My Lover’ is a hybrid music that recalls the grudge guitar style of Oasis, the great English rock-band, combined with hip-hop rhythm emphasizing its ambience. The composer Bang Si-hyuk first wrote this song in 2008 for the second album of 8eight, but didn't release it due to its experimental style. The song is the original version of Bang Si-hyuk-style music, as it was composed before ‘Like being hit by a bullet’ and ‘Without a Heart’. Leading the worldwide music trend, all three songs are hybrid music combining the styles of rock and hip-hop, which is a first in Korea. Bang Si-hyuk decided to release this song as he saw that 8eight’s charm, which was further reinforced through ‘Without a Heart,’ could be completed with ‘Goodbye My Lover’.

To ensure the best quality it took two years just to complete it. The vocal recording was done 7 times, mix-down 14 times, and master 4 times for 8eight’s latest song ‘Goodbye My Lover’. The harmonization of 8eight members’ abilities and the song, added by the members’ craftsmanship as vocalists, creates the perfect song. Through such an endeavor, 8eight’s specialty—to deliver a sad song in an easy-to-listen form—is once again demonstrated through the song, following ‘Forget Love and Sing’ and ‘Without a Heart’. The second title ‘No One Cries because They Want to Date’ is where 8eight meet Dynamic Duo. Back in late-2008 when the digital single ‘Gone' was released, Joo Hee of 8eight and Dynamic Duo showed perfect harmony. Now they meet again in ‘No One Cries because They Want to Date,' a vintage yet refreshing rock sound with familiar melody and relatable lyrics, thus recalling the refreshing feeling of listening to classic music that is digitally retouched. Baek Chan is a multiplayer as he has his own solo-hit as a vocalist through ‘What Love Is’ and is in charge of rap in 8eight. This time, he takes on singing, leaving the rapping part to Dynamic Duo.
